Michael P. McDeavitt

Mr. McDeavitt's practice is limited exclusively to Family Law.

Over the years, Mr. McDeavitt has represented clients in family law matters throughout Northern California. On behalf of his clients, he has appeared before Superior Courts in Fremont, Hayward, Martinez, Modesto, Oakland, Pleasanton, San Francisco, San Jose, and Stockton. Cases have ranged from relatively simple uncontested divorce matters to highly contentious domestic violence cases. Mr. McDeavitt has served as a settlement commissioner for the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda. Mr. McDeavitt is a member of the Family Law Section of the California State Bar, the Alameda County Bar Association ("ACBA") and the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association ("EACBA") and Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS). Mr. McDeavitt has successfully completed the Advanced Family Law course, and he has successfully completed the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, Trial Advocacy Skills Program, and Mediation training through the Congress of Neutrals pursuant to the requirements for the State of California Dispute Resolution Practices Act. He is the recipient of the CALI award for Family Law Negotiation & Settlement, as well as a CALI award recipient for Community Law. In recognition of his achieved success, Mr. McDeavitt is a life member of Who's Who.

Mr. McDeavitt is a former U.S. Military Intelligence Officer who served with the U.S. Army's 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, at Hohenfels, Germany. He is a distinguished military graduate, a recipient of the Chancellor's Perpetual Trophy awarded by the University of California annually to one graduate for outstanding leadership, and selected as class leader for the Military Intelligence Security Course. He is the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Parachutist Badge (Airborne), amongst other military honors.
